If you run a Facebook page or even are active on a Facebook page, you may have seen a brand new badge they are giving fans.

Who needs trophies when you can get badges?

The Super Fan badge on Facebook was announced in late 2018 by Mark Zuckerberg but its deployment only really began recently and it is a win-win option for all.

But Why?

Page and Group admins can see who is interacting the most while badge earners are recognized for their hard Facebook work. And it is a known fact that everyone appreciates a little trophy and a pat on the shoulder for their ongoing support – Now page admins can identify those special fans and even offer some little thank you discounts of offers and everyone is a happy camper!

For eligible Pages, you first need to turn on your Top Fans badge by going to your Page Settings and selecting the ‘Facebook Badges’ section.

The badge is only available to Pages with more than 10k followers. If you do have the Top Fans option, you can check out your list of Top Fans in the ‘Community’ tab on your Page to see how many, and who exactly, you’d be reaching. Do note that only fans who have accepted their top fan badge will appear under your community top fans list!

The requirements are somewhat restrictive – but, Facebook has also, seemingly, lowered the barrier for entry for Top Fans of late, which could make more members of your community feel more connected and linked to your Page. Anything you can do to fuel that can only help build your brand, and boost engagement.

It’s not a magic solution to solving your organic reach issues, but it’s another option to consider in your posting and planning process.

What to do with this?

Doh – this is an opportunity to connect on a deeper level with your fans first and foremost. With the right campaigns, you can engage new Top Fan to stay top fans and thus could also bring a little competition to those not badged up yet! It’s all in your hand now to get a little healthy competition going!

Facebook Adds ‘Top Fans’ Targeting Option for Organic Page Posts

To add to this, Facebook is rolling out a new option which enables Pages to publish updates targeted to their top Page fans specifically.

As you can see in the description, the option enables Pages to create posts exclusively for Top Fans, in order to ‘thank them or share exclusive content’. Some users have had the option available to them for the last few months, so it may already be active on your Page.

Top Fans targeting could give you another way to facilitate more community engagement, and foster stronger connection. By working to reach your most passionate advocates, you could help to keep them more active on your Page, and expand your reach through increased activity and interaction.

Of course, you do need a number of Top Fans to make it useful so get your creative juices flowing and strategize the best campaigns to get those fans rumbling!

Get more engagement via your Facebook Top Fans and entice the rest of your fans to become your top Fans with some rad competitions!
